The 50+ Program is a strength training and low-impact cardio exercise program for women that specifically addresses osteoporosis and the health effects associated with post-menopause (weight gain, fat distribution, cardiovascular disease, and bone mineral loss).
- Strength training: 2 days/week
Strength training can slow bone loss and reduce the loss of muscle mass over time. Strength training is through our Personal Coach program, which provides a systematic plan for improving strength and endurance.
Initial strength testing is done at the first visit and then reassessed every 12 weeks to monitor progress.
Personal Coach trainers are here for you every day, to help and encourage you throughout your workout.
- Low Impact Cardio: 3 days/week
Improve cardio function with weight bearing exercise on any of our cardio equipment in the fitness center (e.g. treadmills, elliptical, bikes) or in group exercise classes. Recommended classes include Get Up & Go and Low Impact Zumba.
50+ Program Sample Week
Monday: Get Up & Go class
Tuesday: Strength training in fitness center
Wednesday: Low Impact Zumba class
Thursday: Strength training in fitness center
Friday: Walk on treadmill for 30 minutes
