What is the difference between "Personal Coach", "Fitness Center", and "Group Exercise Classes"?

Personal Coach is the personal trainer service at Giverny Fitness Studio. Under the guidance of our certified personal trainer, Jim Mills, clients work out in our first floor fitness center. The service provides an assessment, a workout plan, and assistance and encouragement throughout the workout. With monthly fees that allow unlimited use of the fitness center, Personal Coach is a more economical and long-term option than a traditional by-the-hour personal trainer.

The Fitness Center is an option for those who want to use the weight machines and cardio equipment on the first floor, without the Personal Coach service. A "cardio only" option is also available.

Group Exercise Classes take place in our three studio rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor. Classes include Zumba, body sculpt, yoga, body barre, summer intervals, hip hop and kids classes. See our class schedule for more info.

Are there membership fees?

No. There is no membership fee. We want to offer flexibility to our customers, so we charge only for the services that you use. All our class packages allow you to attend any group exercise class, and the sessions are subtracted only when you attend. So if you can't attend your "regular" class, come the next day! Most of our Personal Coach and fitness center customers pay on a monthly basis - that could be considered "membership". But they can be canceled at any time, and are not required for class attendance. Other payment options for Personal Coach and the fitness center are also available, such as annual pre-pay or session-based options.

Do I need to sign a contract?

No. We do not have contracts.

What should I expect on my first visit?

A warm welcome! You will need to sign a waiver on your first visit to Giverny Fitness Studio. If you purchase a class package, or sign up for Personal Coach or the Fitness Center, you will receive a keytag for future check-ins.

What payment options are available?

We accept cash, check and credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover). AutoPay is an option for monthly payments, such as Personal Coach, Fitness Center, or monthly unlimited classes. With AutoPay, we charge your credit/debit card or bank draft automatically each month, and you save $4/month off the regular fees.

Class packages may be purchased online, using PayPal.  

Do you have family discounts?

For Personal Coach, we do have a couple rate and a child rate, for the child of an individual or couple. We have special rates for Group Exercise Classes for youths ages 18 and under. We do not offer family discounts for the Fitness Center. See Prices & Policies for more info.

When I want to attend a class, do I call ahead or sign up?

No. We do not have registrations or sign-ups. All our group exercise classes are on-going, so you can start anytime. Simply drop in and use your class package or purchase a drop-in session. If it is your first class at Giverny, you will need to fill out a simple waiver.

Occasionally, we offer special courses which may require advance registration or may run for a set number of sessions. These special courses will be clearly indicated as such.

What if a class is too full for me to attend?

After several years, we have learned a lot about scheduling classes! Our class schedule is intended to provide an optimum variety of class choices, without the classes being too empty or too full. Only very, very rarely is a class overly full. If that should happen, we would not charge you for the class.

How many studio rooms do you have? What classes are available in each room?

We have three studio rooms. On the 2nd floor is the Water Lily room, which hosts most of our Zumba classes. On the 3rd floor, the larger room is the Garden, which holds body sculpt, body barre, TRX, and other classes that use equipment. The smaller room on the 3rd floor is the Bridge room, where Yoga & Pilates classes are held.

Which classes are right for me?

Most of our group exercise classes are appropriate for all fitness levels to attend. Our instructors are trained to modify and explain alternatives to alter the intensity of the workout. Our instructors welcome the beginner, intermediate, and advanced participant with options suitable for each. If you are a beginner, please don't hesitate to try a class for fear of failure! It is impossible at Giverny Fitness Studio!

We offer some specific classes that are geared toward the beginner participant. Low Impact Zumba is a great alternative for those looking for a lower-intensity Zumba class with no jumping and a more thorough explanation of the moves. Moderate Body Sculpt is a strengthening & toning class with less intense exercises, and Get Up & Go is a beginner cardio class for the deconditioned or plus-sized individual.

Do I need to have a dance background to attend Zumba?

Absolutely not! New participants should attempt Zumba a handful of times, since it is awkward for most people in the beginning. After a few classes, you will see the repetitions and feel more comfortable with the moves. It is a great sweat, lots of fun, and well worth the effort!

What is Low Impact Zumba?

Low Impact Zumba is for the active, older participant and/or deconditioned beginners. This class is slower-paced with low-impact movements. The instructor also breaks down the moves and explains them more thoroughly in this class than in a typical Zumba class. Therefore, it can be a good place to start for any beginning Zumba participant who wants to learn the basics before moving into a higher intensity class.

Do class packages expire?

Our class packages no longer expire!! Use them in a timeframe that is comfortable for you!

Unlike most gyms that require long-term contracts and then don’t really care if their members come in (members are paying anyway!), our goals are aligned with yours.  We want our customers to come to class; you want to be fit!  You have the flexibility to attend any class – use ‘em as you see fit! 

Can my friend and I share a class package?

No, each individual needs to have their own package and keytag. 

What should I wear to class?

Clothing should be comfortable, breathable, and allow movement. Participants tend to wear exercise pants, capris, or shorts with a t-shirt or tank top. To help prevent injuries, it is always good to make sure your shoes are well-fitting and without lots of wear. If you are coming to Zumba, shoes with good lateral support and a smoother sole are a better option than running shoes.

Do I need to bring my own weights or mat?

No, Giverny Fitness Studio provides mats and weights along with many other types of equipment to keep each exercise session challenging and effective. If you are a Yoga or Pilates participant, you may bring your own mat if you wish, although there are mats available here to use. Yoga mats are also available for purchase at the front desk.

What else do I need to bring to class?

You may want to bring a lock for the lockers if you need to store your things. Each studio has coat hooks and benches if you don't want to use the lockers. Bottles of water and small snacks are available for purchase at the front desk, but you may want to bring your own water bottle.

What if the weather is bad, do you cancel class?

** New policy for Winter 2014!**
If there is a school cancellation or delay (at Warsaw Community Schools), we will CANCEL our mid-morning classes (8:15am, most 9:15am, and 10:30am) and childcare. However, if weather permits, we WILL offer one 9:15am class.  Specific class offered is subject to instructor availability, and will be posted.  There will be NO childcare.

In most cases, the early morning classes (5:15am, 6:15am, 6:30am) will be held as usual. The noon and evening classes will also be held as usual. Personal Coach and the fitness center will be open regular hours.

If the weather/roads are especially bad, we may need to cancel other classes or close entirely. All class cancellations will be posted in the News section of our homepage, on facebook, twitter, and voicemail at (574) 376-4051.

Do you have lockers and showers?

Yes. There is a women's locker room on the 2nd floor that has two shower stalls and a changing area with lockers. Also on the 2nd floor, there is a uni-sex bathroom with a shower and lockers. Towels are provided in each bathroom. Lockers are free for use on a daily basis- please bring your own lock. Lockers are also available to rent, using our lock, for $4/month.

Is there babysitting?

Yes. We offer FREE childcare Monday - Friday, in the morning during our 9:15am and 10:30am classes. Please see the Childcare section for more info.

What if I don't bring my keytag or I lose it?

The front desk staff can check you in using your name if you don't have your keytag. If you lose your keytag, there is a nominal fee of $1 to replace it.

Where do I park?

Giverny Fitness Studio is one store away from the municipal lot in downtown Warsaw. Street parking is also available throughout the downtown area. The municipal lot and street parking is limited to 2-hour parking during the day, Monday - Friday. If you want to stay more than two hours, or have other shopping to do in downtown Warsaw, unlimited free parking is also available at two lots just south of the Studio.
